Water heaters are always keeping your water hot, whether you use them or not. Although there are good incentives for solar water heaters now, a water heater timer is an easy home upgrade that can cut your bills by $20 a month during the summer in Phoenix. Why? In the summer APS and SRP charge almost double their normal utility rate, so while we are paying peak hours, our water heater, the second biggest energy user in our homes, is sucking energy away and we may not even be using hot water. The water heater timer can be set to turn back on after peak hours to fill the tank with hot water so you never notice it was off, but your energy bill certainly will. Happy savings!
